A very comfortable ambidextrous grip with studs for sling or bipod attachments – a wonderful addition that saves you from drilling into the woodwork. The general design is recognizably Ultra, but slightly more modern. Because this is a scope-only weapon, the stock has a lovely, high cheekpiece to assure proper eye-to-optic alignment. The butt part is finished with a soft pad that feels great in the shoulder, and the pistol grip shape feels just perfect – both in terms of how it rests in the palm and how well it sets your finger up for the trigger.
On both sides of the rifle grip and fore-end, there are gripping checkering patches. While these textured panels provide a secure grip in most situations, the front end may benefit from being moved forward. The stock design works in both balance and fit, making this a really comfortable small rifle to shoot. This rifle includes a system that prevents double-loading, and the magazine even has a nifty small window that clearly reveals which shot you are on as you blast through its payload. The new Ultra preserves BSA’s legendary cold hammer-forged barrel, which is a good thing. When this high-quality barrel is combined with consistent power output, a fantastic trigger, a pellet-friendly magazine, and a well-designed stock, precise shot placement becomes second nature.
Ultra JSR
The BSA Ultra JSR is a fantastic small pistol. Built for juniors or younger shooters, this neat little little pistol is nonetheless enjoyable for everyone. The unique tiny stock is constructed of walnut coloured beech with checkering and a rubber butt pad. The barrel is the same cold hammer forged competition quality item that can be found on top-tier BSA rifles. The muzzle is threaded 1/2 UNF to accept a sound moderator. The trigger is a two-stage mechanism that is completely adjustable and gives a sharp let off. The revolutionary quick strike hammer and valve technologies allow the small air cylinder to fire an astonishing number of bullets.
