What is a Mil-dot?

If you’re in to shooting air rifles, or are considering starting for either sport, pest control, or hunting purposes, then you’ll likely have seen a Mildot whether you know it or not.

Contrary to what you may have heard, Mildot doesn’t have anything do with the word ‘Military’ (for example it doesn’t stand for “military dot’ or ‘military reticle’. Instead, Mil is short for Milliradian.

What is a Milliradian?

A Milliradian is a measurement – an angular measurement.It is 1/1000th of a radian.

Great! But WtF is a radian? You may ask…

A Radian is a unit of angular measurement, is equal to the angle at the center of a circle… subtended by an arc whose length equals the radius or approximately 57.3 degrees
